introduction

The Department of Physics was created by the UdG Government Board (1 November 1998) and the Commissioner of Universities of the Government of Catalonia. Even so, some of the members have been associated with the University of Girona for more than 20 years. The Department, associated with the Polytechnic School (EPS), offers classes in several degree programmes in the EPS as well as in the Faculty of Sciences. The subjects are related with general physics, environmental physics and the physics of materials.

The areas that make up the Department are:

Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering
Applied Physics
Condensed Matter Physics

The research activity is focused on two main areas and falls under the responsibility of the corresponding research groups:

Environmental Physics Group
Research Group in Materials and Thermodynamics
